Covina Concert Band – Delivering the Joy of Music for 50 Years

Established in 1956, the Covina Concert Band is celebrating 50 years of great music. Under director Dr. Don Holcomb, the band is planning a gala 50th anniversary season, giving local supporters numerous opportunities to enjoy many fine and varied musical programs.

The Band opened its anniversary year with a highly successful performance at Disneyland, and is now busy putting together a performance in mid May for the Poway Music Festival near San Diego, to be followed by the annual “free” spring concert at the Women’s Club on Sunday, May 21, at 3:00 p.m.

After the opening concert at the annual Covina Music Festival in June, the band will perform in the San Dimas civic center park. Then the band will turn its attention to the 4th of July pancake breakfast, which is the kick-off for its twelve week summer season of weekly Thursday evening concerts in the band shell at beautiful Covina Park, during which, most of the 50th birthday celebrations will occur.

The success and continued existence of the fine Covina Concert Band is the result mainly of various grants, in-kind support through volunteers and the department of parks and recreation, and most importantly, the generous donations of its patrons.

During this special 50th year, the band invites anyone to join the celebration. For more information about the band, or to be added to the mailing list, please call (626) 332-0020, or send a letter to 340 N. Valencia Place, Covina CA 91723, or visit the website www.covinaconcertband.org.
