CALIFORNIA PHILHARMONIC continues their 10th anniversary season of “Cal Phil Festival on the Green” with the following concerts: Saturday, August. 12 “Phantom Goes to the Opera” Music from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Sunset Boulevard” and “Evita,” as well as Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride” and Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino.” Guest artists will be singers Suzanna Guzman, California Philharmonic Artist in Residence, and Kevin Earley. Saturday, August 26 “Music Magic” “Movie Magic,” features Williams’ “Star Wars,” Badelt’s “Pirates of the Caribbean,” Newman’s “How the West Was Won,” Orff’s “Carmina Burana” and other film favorites. |
Opera singers Shana Blake Hill, Christina Wilcox, Injoon Jang and Jonathan Mack will join the California Philharmonic Chorale in performing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.” Saturday, September 9 “Dance Fever”: Ravel’s “La Valse,” Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” and Marquez’s “Danzón No. 2,” as well as music by Glenn Miller, The Beach Boys, Duke Ellington, The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Queen.
