Mt. SAC Students Advance to National SkillsUSA Competition



Walnut — Two Mt. San Antonio College students will advance to the SkillsUSA national competition after winning gold medals at the SkillsUSA state tournament held recently in Riverside. Mt. SAC students won a total of five medals at the competition.

Peter Dekluyver (Clare-mont), who won a gold medal in the electronics technology competition, and Fred Gonzales (Pomona), who won a gold medal in the computer maintenance technology division, will advance to national competition scheduled for June 19 in Kansas City, MO.
Other medalists for Mt. SAC included Anita Ying (Baldwin Park), who won a gold medal in architectural CAD, Justin Santana (Rancho Cucamonga), who won a silver medal in computer maintenance technology, and Yu T. Chow (Walnut), who won a silver medal in electronics technology.

SkillsUSA (formerly the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America-VICA) is a nationally affiliated vocational club representing secondary and post-secondary students in the trade, technical, and health education fields. The vocational education organization represents more than a quarter million students in over 13,000 chapters nationwide.
