It seems like I am writing more and more about Google, and the different offerings from this wondrous corporation. Today I have yet another column about a fun and useful Google item for your PC, Google Toys. Google Toys is a collection of various programs that run on your Windows desktop that can provide both useful information and add some fun to your PC use. |
For example, if you have a laptop PC, one of the Google Toys you can run is a battery meter that resides on your desktop to show at a glance the strength of the battery. Or, a clock with a big number in the middle that indicates the date. You can also add a Google Toy to watch NASA TV. Currently there are 417 Google Gadgets, more than I can list, and probably more when you read this column, that are available to use on your Windows desktop. A quick review of the list of Gadgets includes news, maps, horoscope, dictionaries, WiFi signal strength meters, calendars, calculators, to do lists, a Pac Man game (my favorite), astronomy picture of the day, an e-Bay watcher, NASA TV, an airfare tracker, bible verse of the day, and some 400 + more. You can read all about Google Gadgets at http://desktop. google.com/plugins/. |
